Working Priciple of Rapid Mixer Granulator
Rapid Mixer Granulator working principles are based on two decisive factors essential for the intimate mixing system:
- Spinning close to bottom of mixing bowl.
- The impeller sets the entire mixture in whirling rising
Tumbling motion ensuring a quick & even distribution of all dry components. This leads to an even distribution of all dry components & an even wetting of every granule. The large lumps occurred during wet mixing are broken up, by the strategically acted chopping tool rotating at 1440/2880 RPM.
The mixture can be discharged with the impeller running through outlet located on the side of the mixing bowl flush to the bottom. Easy accessibility for cleaning is guaranteed by the low profile. The mixing tool is easily removed from the drive shaft providing an unobstructed mixing area which may be cleaned very easily.
Impeller and Chopper are primarily perform wet granulation in rapid mixer granulator. Below is the details of Impeller and Chopper.
Impeller
The stainless steel bowl has a dome shape and has fixed impellers at the bottom. Its blade count is two full length and two half length. These impellers are made with small blades that lift material and full-length blades that push material to ensure proper mixing. The wet substance is broken up into tiny pieces and grains by these impellers.
Chopper
These are the specially made blades that are situated at the dome’s base. Its high-speed rotation provides simple and consistent mixing operations. The chopper’s speed determines the size of the granules by chopping the wet lump material into minute pieces that are evenly mixed by the impellers. High impeller speed has no discernible influence on granule size due to the chopper.
Design & Construction of Rapid Mixer Granulator
Mixing Bowl
Mixing bowl is also known as blending bowl. With shape of arch it formulate free particles in whirling movement through assistance of impeller. Bowl is made from stainless steel 316 materials in moulded shape and welding less construction. Inner surface of bowl is smooth funnel shape without any dead corners.
Impeller
Impeller is designed in Z shape design for homogeneous blending operations. It perform multi dimensions movement for granulating the powder mass. Impeller is having two half filled and two filled edges. Clearance between impeller and shell is minimum as 0.5mm to 1.5mm, hence no chance to dead leg of powder in bowl. This way small particulate is also cleared on divider of bowl hence enhance efficiency and decrease energy load.
Chopper
Chopper is small blender with unique shape blades which rotate in high speed for granulation process. It break down larger molecules and turn them into granules. Generally chopper functioning start after adding binding agent when larger molecules formation done. With higher revolution speed of 500 to 3000 RPM chopper perform quick and uniform granulation process.
Discharge Cylinder
Pneumatic cylinder operated discharge mechanism uses in granulator. It has 180 degree direction pipe with 45 degree bend to discharge material beneath. Forward and backward movement cylinder work to discharge happens. When cylinder preform in backward direction then hole in 45 degree pipe become available to get material out. Impeller is turned to be during discharge process in order to accommodate material at discharge point.
Control Panel
Control Panel is made from stainless steel 304 materials with separate stand for it. There are two control panel on machine. One is main control panel which is mounted at bottom side door and another is operating control panel which is mounted at height of 800mm to 1000mm working height from the floor. Display system of control panel having phase indicating lamps, start – stop buttons, emergency stop switch. Speed ports provided if variable frequency drive for impeller and chopper opted by the user. There is option of Analog type control panel or touch screen HMI based control panel as per user requirements. There are series of optional sensors and interlocks can be offered as per individual user requirements.
