Working Principle of Ointment Mixer
The process begins with oil-phase preparation in which powdered ingredients are dispersed into oil or silicone oil. Now ingredients must be melted through heating. Heating can either be jacket or coil-pipe heating and it can be minimized if the ingredients are pre-blended in dry blending before mixing it in the oil phase. This helps reduce significant costs and energy. Now, thickeners, stabilizers and emulsifiers are dispersed into the water in a different vessel. Emulsion is formed when two phases are blended vigorously. Now, active ingredient which forms a small part of the formulation is dispersed into the mixture.
Our ointment mixing vessel has a simple and effective working principle. The vessels are insulated, jacketed and cladded with an appropriate assembly in every vessel. Wax mixing vessel is used to melt wax while the water heating vessel is used for heating water. Using vacuum, both wax and water are transferred into the manufacturing vessel automatically. The manufacturing vessel serves the purpose of making a homogeneous mixture of water and wax apart from making a uniform emulsion. This emulsion is later on cooled by passing cool water into the manufacturing vessel’s jacket. Once the emulsion is ready, necessary colors and other active ingredients are added. In case of cosmetics, necessary perfume is also added to the emulsion if need be. Now, the ointment or cream is ready which is transferred to the storage vessel by using a bump pump.
